CAS Senate Committees -- Academic Affairs Diversity Subcommittee

The Academic Affairs Diversity Subcommittee is one of the standing committees of the CAS Senate. From the Senate Minutes (May 1992):

A Diversity Sub-Committee of the CAS Academic Affairs Committee should be charged with the responsibilities of reviewing courses and providing assistance to faculty who propose diversity courses. One member of the Diversity Sub-Committee should also sit as a diversity liaison on the Academic Affairs Committee.

As with other college committees, the Diversity Sub-Committee's work would be subject to governance review, in this case by both the Academic Affairs Committee and the CAS Senate.

Existing courses for which the diversity designation is the only change would receive Diversity Subcommittee review, and pro forma review by Academic Affairs. New or amended courses proposed as diversity courses would receive both Diversity Subcommittee review and full Academic Affairs review. Core courses that are proposed as diversity courses would be reviewed by the Diversity Subcommittee in conjunction with the CAS Core Curriculum Committee. All matters would be subject to normal CAS Senate oversight.
